Located to the north of Kathmandu, Langtang Valley stays securely in the bosom of Central Himalayan Region and shares border with mystical land of Tibet. Being the closest trekking region from capital city of Kathmandu, Langtang region is most easily accessible region.

Overview

Langtang Valley Trek is one of the most preferred trekking in Nepal. Located to the north of Kathmandu, Langtang Valley stays securely in the bosom of Central Himalayan Region and shares border with mystical land of Tibet. Being the closest trekking region from capital city of Kathmandu, Langtang region is most easily accessible region.

Splendid High Adventure operates Langtang Valley Trek itinerary as 14-days package. We will drive to Syabrubesi from Kathmandu from where trekking begins. The route continues through Langtang National Park which is famous for being the habitat of rare red panda. This national park is expanded over 1710 sq .km. of an area. Langtang Region consists of more than 45 traditional Highland villages where Tamang, Yolmu and Bhotia ethnic people adopt primitive life and follows unique culture. We will enjoy wildlife views as we pass through sub-tropical forest of Sal, pine and rhododendron.

Langtang valley opens up into glacial ‘U’ shape above forest. This impressive valley is secured to the north by Langtang Mountain. We can enjoy views of Langtang II Mountain, Langtang Lirung Mountain and other peaks and mountains from Kyangjin Ri before returning back to Dhunche where Langtang Trek ends. Langtang Trekking is moderately strenuous. Every adventure lover with normal physical fitness can enjoy this trek. September to November and February to June are best season for Langtang trek.

Itinerary

When you land at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will have to go through custom formalities. Later, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to the hotel. When you are done with refreshment, you will visit our office where we will complete the documentation work. Enjoy the welcome dinner in the evening.

You will be picked up from the hotel and taken for the tour of UNESCO sites in Kathmandu. You will be amazed to know that there are altogether 7 UNESCO heritage sites in Kathmandu valley alone and 4 of them lies in Kathmandu city. We will start the tour from Pashupatinath, the holiest Hindu temple in Nepal. Observe Hindu crematory in Aryaghat which is located in the bank of Bagmati. Next, we will drive to Bouddhanath, the largest Buddhist Stupa in Nepal. You will rejoice to see monks in red robes chanting hymns. Later, we will continue our journey to Monkey Temple, Swoyambhunath. Believed to have been self-originated at the top of hill, Swoyambhunath dates 2500 years back and is said to be the oldest Stupa. Our next stop will be at Kathmandu Durbar Square. Taleju Temple, Stone Statue of KalBhairav, SwetBhairav, Kasthamandap and KumariGhar- the home of Living Goddess are attractions in Kathmandu Durbar Square.

We will drive northwest from Kathmandu on this day. The trail continues along Queen Forest. We can enjoy the views of rice terraces, mountains and river. In about 6hrs, we will reach Trishuli River. We will take lunch and drive further to Dhunche. The road after Dhunche is bumpy. We will enjoy the view of Ganesh Mountain as we continue our journey to Syabrubesi where we will stay overnight.

We will begin our Langtang Valley Trek on this day. The trail takes us down to Bhotekoshi River. We will walk alongLangtang River and follow the escalating path to Bamboo. Stay overnight in Bamboo.

We will take lunch at Bamboo Leaving Bamboo forest; we will climb to Rimche (2,400m) which exists near Langtang River continuing our journey through pine forest which is rich in wildlifeincluding rare red panda. We will continue walking to Lama Hotel where we will stay overnight.

After breakfast, we will leave lama Hotel and follow the levelled path towards Gumanechok. From Gumanechok, we will walk past tiny dispersed settlements to GhoraTabela village. Following the ascending trail, we will reach alpine valley. We will encounter with Yaks grazing lazily on the green pasture. We will walk through valley to Langtang village where we will stay overnight.

Leaving Langtang Village, we will take brief walk to KyanjinGompa. Along with cultural significance, KyanjinGompa is also famous for mountain views. We can enjoy spectacular views of Mount Ganchempo and LangtangLirung. Yak cheese Factory is also place of interest around KyanjinGompa.

We will take rest on this day. We will walk past moraine to reach a viewpoint near KyanjinGompa from where we can enjoy views of glaciers of LangtangLirung. We can also climb KyangjinRi (4350m) which is the highest point of our trek. KyangjinRi allows striking views of Langtang peaks. We will return to KyangjinGompa for overnight stay.

Returning from Kyangjin Gompa, we will walk through Langtang village to Ghoratabela. Crossing moraine, we will walk through tiny Tamang villages. Lowering down from chorten, we will reach Langtang village. The trail descends further from Langtang village and takes us to forest area. We will exit from the forest and move towards GhoraTabela. GhoraTabela greets us with spectacular view of Langtang Lirung Mountain. From ghoda tabela descending through the forest to Lamahotel

After an early morning tea, we will walk through oak forest and reach river. We will cross suspension bridge and arrive at Bamboo. Following the descending trail from Bamboo, we will reach the landslide area. The trail ascends from landslide area to Thulo Syabru Village which is inhabited by Tamang village. Stay overnight at hotel.

We will leave ThuloSyabru village and climb uphill through oak and rhododendron forest. Climbing to the top, we will lower down to Brabal. The trail descends from Brabal to ThuloBharkhu and continues our walk to Dhunche. Stay overnight at Dhunche.

Since our trek ends at Dhunche, we will return back to Kathmandu on this day. It takes 7 to 8 hours to reach Kathmandu. You will be transferred to hotel for your comfortable stay.

Take rest on this day. It will help you to rejuvenate your body. If you wish, we can arrange for optional sightseeing tour or day hike. You can arrange photo albums, write a journal or spend time playing cards. You can also visit shops in Thamel to buy gift items. Stay overnight at hotel.

You will be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport three hours before your scheduled flight. Have a safe journey. We hope to see you again.
